Timberlake goes out of sync when asked about gay fans

by John Graves

Justin Timberlake was at a loss for words when an HX.com reporter asked whether he was aware of his gay fan base and whether he thought they would like his new album Justified.

Neva Chonin of the San Francisco Chronicle says the usually cool 'N Sync star was "reduced to bashful gibberish" when the

says the 27-year old Hall and Paquita are emerging as audience favorites on the show, which began airing October 14. White says Hall, who lists her status as "dating," and "ogles the other female cast members and her painting models with humor and wit," met her muse Paquita while visiting a litter of pit bull puppies. Paquita climbed up Hall's leg and "it was love at first sight."

He answered, "Um... honestly I've never really, uh, I've never really. something that I've thought a lot about . . . Something that I will say, you know, about, you know, the whole community is... that I appreciate is that... and the people that I've met that are, I mean, it's so non-discriminating where music goes that it's . . . it's all . . . sometimes it's almost inspiring that there's people out there who just like music because they like music. I don't know, for some reason I find it in this community more than one another is that... you know, um . . . honestly I don't know. I think, uh ... I never really thought about it. I hope that, uh, all types of different people, they like it, I mean, 'cause, uh . . . it's kinda somewhere in the middle of . . . of... of the styles that are going on right now." "So, um, you can only hope for the best. I don't want to come off sounding pretentious."

Elton John scores 'Billy Elliot' musical

Gay music giant Sir Elton John has been picked to compose music for a musical adaptation of Billy Elliot, Stephen Daldry's Oscar-nominated film about the 11-year-old son of a macho British coal miner who defies his father by skipping boxing classes to attend ballet classes.

John is expected to complete the score in December and the show could open in London early next year. The producers are seeking to sign Julie Walters to reprise her role from the film. Daldry, who previously worked in London and on Broadway as a theatrical director before his work on the film Billy Elliot, is also working on a film adaptation of Michael Cunningham's play The Hours.

show, While You Were Out.

The upcoming episode features Leavey, designer John Bruce and helpers Andrew Dan-Jumbo and Leslie Segrete redecorating the couple's living room while Leavey's partner Livingston, a Frito-Lay executive, is out of town competing in the Atlantic States Gay Rodeo in Maryland.

TV Guide's Janet Weeks said the woman was "speechless with joy" when Livingston arrived home after the job was done.

"In my head, I was going, 'Oh, my God! Oh my God!" Livingston said. “My mouth was wide open and I couldn't speak.”

Like its sister show Trading Spaces, in which neighbors redecorate their neighbor's homes, the show is primarily a home im provement show but While You Were Out adds a twist by having spouses and partners redecorate their own homes to surprise their loved ones.

On While You Were Out, which airs Saturdays at 10 pm, one partner is encouraged to take a 48-hour trip out of town while their spouse handles the makeover with the show's hosts.

Hyde, who had watched the show on TV before becoming a contestant, noted that the real experience was quite different, saying, "I think watching it at home, you can never get the full grasp of what you go through physically, mentally and even spiritually. Even I had never fathomed just how different it really would be. It's a totally different world when you're actually racing."

Champagne asked Hyde if his father had any reservations about going on the show with his openly gay son.

"He was a little bit worried that maybe they wouldn't show us in a good light," Hyde explained. "He was afraid that the differences between us-he's a conservative southern Baptist and I'm his openly gay son— would be really exploited. And there was a point where he said, 'I don't want to do this.' But then I basically just sat down and talked to him and said, 'Do this for me. Do this with me.' And he really just opened up."

Hyde said competing with his father on Amazing Race 3 had a dramatic effect on their relationship.
